TERE ‘A’ATI - RURUTU: 
FROM JANUARY 2 TO JANUARY 8 

Cultural and historical event on Rurutu in the Austral Islands featuring a long walk with stops at ancestral sites (archeological sites and cliffs, etc.), the three villages (Moerai, Avera and Auti) and a visit to various homes where guests receive this island’s traditional greeting, a shower of thrown talcum powder, custom specific to the inhabitants of the island.

TERE FAATI - TAHITI:
JANUARY 28

A day long tour around Papeete in a "truck" (traditional bus) during which participants sing to the sound of the 'ukulele. This is how the new year and abundant seasons were celebrated in the past. Several stops on the program include visits to cultural and natural sites with delicious traditional lunches including "ma'a" local food prepared by the Mamas. It is a rare, authentic and fun event looking into the Tahiti of today and yesteryear.

TRADITIONAL SPORTS CHAMPIONSHIP "TUARO MAOHI" - TAHITI:
MAY & JUNE  

At Tahiti and islands - Te Fare Manaha Museum, Punaauia - Tahiti. This contest allows athletes from French Polynesia’s five archipelagos, and sometimes from the entire Pacific region, to demonstrate their talents in ancient Polynesian sports. Workshops, demonstrations and initiation classes are on the scheme. The aim of the event is to develop traditional sports and encourage and recruit younger generations into these ancient Polynesian sports.

HEIVA DES ÉCOLES DE DANSE OU DES ÉCOLES DE ‘ORI TAHITI - TAHITI

All the traditional dance schools of Tahiti, Moorea and other French Polynesian islands come together for this yearly show with expert performances in the traditional Polynesian arts (fire dancing, drums etc.). The participants range from the ages of 3 to 70 years old, making for a dynamic and convivial setting as these budding artists shine, demonstrating the essence of Polynesian “joie de vivre”. HAWAIKI NUI VA’A (26TH EDITION):

"Va'a" or outrigger canoe is the ultimate traditional sport. Over 100 outriggers will race from Huahine to Raiatea, Tahaa and to Bora Bora. The mythical arrival of the race at Matira Point in Bora Bora is unreal and definitely a once in a lifetime experience.

IRONMANA - BORA BORA LIQUID FESTIVAL :
LATE NOVEMBER TO EARLY DECEMBER

The yearly IronMana Bora Bora Liquid Festival is the very last stage of the WaterMan Tahiti Tour being hosted at the beginning of December on Bora Bora island. During the three days, athletes will compete in water related contests such as open water swimming, prone paddle, stand up paddle, kayaking and outrigger canoe races.

This event - which is focused on the theme: “wreaths and bunches of tiare Tahiti” - is a special tribute to Tahiti’s national emblematic flower, the tiare Tahiti. There will be various events related to the tiare flower, such as competitive decorations in Papeete’s businesses and public institutions.
